JAKARTA โ€“ The Bonded Logistics Center (PLB) has the potential to increase the efficiency value of oil and gas sector businesses amid unfavorable global oil prices.

โ€œThis PLB was built from scratch, aiming to help oil and gas companies achieve efficiency. With increasing pressure for companies to be efficient, the PLB offers significant opportunities for cost-saving measures,โ€ said Ety Puspitasari, Chair of the Indonesian Bonded Logistics Center Association during the 2016 Oil and Gas Business Forum in Jakarta on Wednesday (5/18).

Ety acknowledged that the oil and gas sector is indeed sluggish macroeconomically, but hopes that the PLB's presence can advance the logistics industry. โ€œWe don't view the oil and gas situation as gloomy โ€“ this is actually a good opportunity. If efficiency measures are implemented properly, benefits can be realized when prices rebound,โ€ Ety added.

Herry Putranto, Daily Chair of the Indonesian Oil and Gas Community (KMI), hopes oil and gas businesses can optimize the PLB as a shared facility for processing oil. โ€œThe sector wants shared facility efficiency. Fortunately, the PLB presents a breakthrough opportunity. We hope the PLB can be used as a shared facility to process abundant oil resources,โ€ Herry stated.

This multifunctional logistics warehouse stores imported or local goods with benefits including exemptions from Import-Related Domestic Tax (PDRI), excise exemptions for companies entering PLB zones, and exemptions from Value-Added Tax (VAT) and Luxury Goods Sales Tax (PPNBM) for goods transferred between PLB zones.
