As PT Cipta Krida Bahari (CKB Logistics), an integrated logistics service provider, we take pride in being part of the solution that makes Indonesia's supply chain far more efficient and competitive. We directly witness how this transformation occurs and its impact on industry players.

Prior to PLB: Challenges and Limitations

Previously, Indonesia's logistics situation was quite challenging. Industry players, especially those in imports, often faced lengthy and complicated processes. Once ships arrived at ports, goods had to be immediately cleared. There was no alternative but to promptly pay significant import duties and taxes.

For companies, this meant their working capital was 'locked up' in large amounts. They had to prepare substantial funds upfront, long before goods were actually sold or used in production. Market demand uncertainties increased loss risks. This process also required immediate transfer to private warehouses, adding inefficient handling and transportation costs.

Post-PLB Implementation: Efficient and Integrated Solutions

Everything changed when we obtained permission to operate as a Bonded Logistics Center (PLB) manager. This historic moment occurred on March 10, 2016, when our PLB facility at CKB Mega Hub, Cakung, Jakarta was inaugurated directly by President Joko Widodo.

We see this not merely as a warehouse, but as an ecosystem granting freedom and flexibility to our clients. With our PLB facility, industry players can now store imported goods for extended periods without rushing to pay import duties and taxes. Payments are made only when goods are actually withdrawn.

This represents a significant advantage. Companies' working capital remains liquid and can be allocated to more productive purposes like business expansion or innovation. Beyond storage, we offer value-added services including repackaging, labelling, and multi-supplier consolidation - all possible within the PLB zone before final distribution.

Currently, CKB Logistics operates PLB facilities across three strategic locations serving multiple industrial sectors. Besides Cakung (Jakarta), we manage PLBs in Somber, Balikpapan and Osowilangun, Surabaya. This enables us to serve logistics needs nationwide - from the capital to industrial hubs beyond Java.

We're delighted to see clients responding to markets more swiftly and intelligently. Freed from bureaucratic complexities, they can focus on core operations. Through continuous innovation, we believe we can help Indonesia become a more resilient global logistics hub.
