Jakarta, Aktual.com — In efforts to drive corporate efficiency amid unstable global oil prices, oil and gas industry players are encouraged to utilize Bonded Logistics Centers (PLB).

“PLBs help improve oil and gas companies' efficiency. With growing pressure for cost optimization, PLBs present significant opportunities for efficiency gains,” said Ety Puspitasari, Chairperson of the Indonesian PLB Association, during the 2016 Oil and Gas Business Forum at Kartini Exhibition Center, Jakarta on Wednesday (18/5).

Ety acknowledged that the oil and gas sector remains sluggish macroscopically, but hopes PLBs can advance the logistics industry.

Meanwhile, Herry Putranto, Daily Chair of the Indonesian Oil and Gas Community (KMI), urged industry players to optimize PLBs as shared facilities for oil processing.

“The energy sector seeks efficiency through shared facilities. PLBs represent an innovative breakthrough. We hope they'll serve as collective facilities to process abundant oil resources,” Herry stated.

Bonded Logistics Centers are multifunctional warehouses storing imported or domestic goods with tax benefits including deferred import duty payments, exemption from VAT/Luxury Goods Sales Tax, and operational flexibility.

This policy forms part of the Jokowi-JK administration's Economic Policy Package Volume II.
